Rumors and Randomness
TerraDactyl was playing quietly in her room, so I came in to check on her. Because she doesn't usually do that unless she's pooping. She wasn't pooping. Instead, I came in to find that she had removed all four tires from one of her matchbox cars (you can see the tiny tires by the baby bottle). TerraDactyl requested that I "fix" the car. Thankfully, this was a quality car. It had rubber tires that fit over plastic discs on the axle. It was a pretty easy fix. When I handed the car back to her, TerraDactyl immediately removed all four tires again in less than a minute and placed them all in my hand.
Up until now, I've just let TerraDactyl brush her teeth by chewing on one of those infant finger toothbrush things. She'll run around playing for 10 minutes while chomping away on it. I finally decided that we should probably start working on the actual mechanics of tooth brushing, so I got her a different style of tooth brush. It's shaped like a peeling banana. She LOVES it. Like unreasonably. She wants to keep it all day long. It's a tragedy when I finally declare she's done brushing her teeth. She really like holding it with one hand "like mommy does."
Here TerraDactyl is, "making coffee like grandpa does." She kept saying that every time she pushed the button on top of the fake Keurig machine.
The weather has cooled down enough I actually turned on the heater. Which means... I can start canning! I've made six batches of jam/jelly so far and I've got 28 pints of raspberry, blackberry plum, grape jam. So far. I've got more berries in the freezer. It's slow going though, because I don't really want TerraDactyl around where she could get splattered with boiling jam. So that rules out canning during the week. But TerraDactyl is plenty interested in the canning tools. She's always stealing my magnetic lid lifter and jar grabber.
In case TerraDactyl ever insists that you give her the "Train Blanket". This is what it looks like. I unfolded like every blanket for her before we got to this one. She was just about melting down, her need for the Train Blanket was so dire. It actually does make sense though. It's knitted in such a way so it has grooves that are the perfect width for her Thomas trains' wheels.
Saturday morning cartoons with Daddy. TerraDactyl loves watching Curious George. She's so slouchy in this picture it just cracks me up. She also really likes playing Psychonauts with daddy.
This is a much more accurate picture of her energy levels when watching Curious George with daddy. Yes, that is a dog bed that she's sitting in. TerraDactyl is all about the "what's yours is mine" mantra.
TerraDactyl is still into playing nap. We're currently in a nap regression. She's not napping much at all. But she does like to lay down with her blankets and pretend to nap.
The only naps we've gotten her to take in the last week or so have been when someone is holding her. This happened while daddy was playing Psychonauts the other day. DH said she kept sliding sideways until she was draped over his arm and then she would sort of wake up and squirm herself upright before going back to sleep.
Last year we had a bunch of trees fall during a windstorm and we finally got around to cleaning them all up. DH rented a 40 yard dumpster and we filled it up. DH worked so hard chopping up the trees and hauling them up the hill. TerraDactyl fell in love with the dumpster. She's talked about it every day for 2 weeks. Thankfully she didn't freak out when the dumpster left. She's accepted the explanation that the dumpster had to go back home.
We had 2.5 tons of yardwaste in the dumpster. That's 5,000 pounds!
TerraDactyl gets all sorts of uncoordinated and loopy when she's tired. Here we are at bedtime, and DH & TerraDactyl are playing a two person game of tag. She actually can run, but she's so tired she's just plain silly.
Her words are so clear -- you can hear her little voice so well! So exciting!!! E also loves dumpsters, mostly because he gets to see the big garbage truck lift them up.
