Expanding Loyalties
This is Floyd. And he might be the most patient Boston Terrier ever. He let TerraDactyl maul him for a week straight. Riley wasn't around, but I am curious as to whether Riley would have been jealous or relieved that someone else was helping bear the burden of TerraDactyl's love and affection. Floyd put up with soooo many hugs. He was such a good dog. And TerraDactyl has now learned that all dogs love her and want her hugs. :)
Here's a picture of TerraDactyl definitely not hogging two awesome toys and trying to multitask play with them both at the same time.
I wish I had a video of this, but it wasn't my priority at the time and now you'll just have to use your imagination while you read the story. Last night TerraDactyl had a big dinner. She at a bunch! Multiple servings of vegetable soup, garlic chicken, yellow rice... and then while DH and I were cleaning up the dishes, I gave her a peanut butter cookie. She ate it like a good little human, one bite at a time. Until... I'm not sure what changed (nobody acted like we'd take it away from her or anything), TerraDactyl just shoved the remaining 60% of the cookie into her mouth - all at once!
TerraDactyl's mouth was so full, she started gagging. I've seen the ending of this before (spoiler: lots of regurgitation), so I asked her to spit it out into my hand (only a mother would ask for such a fate). TerraDactyl refused to relinquish her greedy goods. She just sat there chewing, gagging, pausing... and then repeat until she managed to swallow the cookie. And then she demanded another cookie! It was beyond ridiculous. I had the hardest time not laughing at her. In fact, I feel like I spend a lot of my life trying not to laugh at, and thus encourage, TerraDactyl's behavior. Or maybe I was just riding the emotional high of escaping another vomit clean-up.
As you can see, TerraDactyl is an expert in camouflaging. She's been practicing so she can eliminate all the squirrels that eat our bird seed (at least, that's my hope!). TerraDactyl is also showing much more interest in using handrails when doing stairs. They're usually just a touch too tall to actually be useful, but TerraDactyl ran across one the other day that was lower than standard and she loved that handrail! She went up and down those stairs just so she could use it.
OK, one last video. TerraDactyl's been working on counting. She's getting pretty good at it, too! Two is by far her favorite number. I guess it's appropriate since it's almost her 2nd birthday!
