Labor Day Fun

We went to a nearby park with a small creek so TerraDactyl (and Riley) could play in the water.  Riley was more interested in exploring initially, but then people in the water started splashing...  and he was ALL over that.  He was swimming back and forth checking everything out.

TerraDactyl had SO much fun.  She LOVED walking around in the water.  As long as her feet can reach the ground, she's totally happy walking around in deep water.  At one point she was up to her armpits in the water and was willing to go deeper.  I think she likes to be at least waist deep so that it's easy to splash the water with her hand.  She was also VERY interested in watching all the other people there.  She's so nosy!  And of course, our child has zero social awareness, so she'll lean around us and just stare straight at the strangers for minutes at a time.  It's pretty funny.

Our big accomplishment for Labor Day 2020:  Hanging up blinds!  We got four rooms outfitted with blackout blinds.  I'm super excited about the blinds in TerraDactyl's room because the curtain set up we had in there was a bit awkward and janky.  It was just really difficult to get her windows open for airflow on hot days.  We were able to mostly distract TerraDactyl with the packaging so we could both work on the blinds.

AND since TerraDactyl doesn't need the curtains in her room anymore, they're now in MY room!  They're even the right length!  (The dog crate is ruining the lines in this picture.)  I don't exactly have a lot of coordination going in my color scheme, but at least it will help keep the light out of my room in the morning.  The curtains that were previously in there were WHITE, so as soon as the sun rose it was shining in my eyes.  I'm a good sleeper, so this wouldn't usually be a problem, but sometimes we have 5am feedings and I'm trying to fall back asleep in a room that's daylight bright.

My other big Labor Day accomplishment:  I finished my deer on TerraDactyl's growth chart!  This little guy caused some problems.  I had to resize the pattern a bit so he would fit in the six inch gap.  The next panel is a bear and he'll probably have similar resizing issues that I'll have to address.  I'm a little worried I won't have enough brown.  I'm using a bigger gauge cross stitch cloth than the pattern suggested.
