Boots, Shoes, and Boogies

DH has been doing RunBets for a while now to force/encourage himself to exercise more.  Basically you bet money that you can fulfill a particular workout schedule.  If you do it, you get your money back.  If you don't do it, your money gets divvied up among the other people who did complete the workout schedule.  He's gone from doing 2 or 3 mile runs to regularly doing 10ks (6.2 miles).  He just started a RunBet that's 8 weeks long and it's supposed to prep you to run a half marathon (13.1 miles)!  I'm really proud of him...  and I also think he's nuts.

I love this outfit.  It's so cute.  TerraDactyl would be wearing it way more if I weren't so worried about her skinning her knees constantly.  We had an awesome photoshoot with her posing on her favorite "sitting stool".

TerraDactyl found her size 3 shoes.  It's probably a good thing since she apparently fits them now.  Some of the "size 3" shoes are even too small for her!  There's an amazing amount of variation in these sizes.  She was in love with her black shoes (almost too small).  She insisted on wearing them with her ice cream dress and stomping all over the house.  I'm calling it her "River Tam" look.  River spent the whole season of Firefly dressed in adorable sun dresses and combat boots.

TerraDactyl is doing pretty well at recognizing words.  She's still not really talking (mostly mom, da da, & dog where the g may or may not be enunciated).  But when you talk to her, she'll get excited when she knows a word and will point to it.  She can identify a lot of things:  Ball, train, blocks, Duplos, car, boat,  shoes, socks, ear, eye, mouth...  I would not advise drawing attention to your mouth.  She likes to use her tiny finger to fish hook your bottom lip and doesn't always want to let go.

This is what happens when you take Uncle Skeeter's parenting advice.  I mentioned that TerraDactyl didn't push hard enough on her crayons so her drawings are always really light.  Skeeter told me that means she should be drawing with Sharpies.  So I gave her some Sharpies...  just kidding.  She managed to find these in her diaper bag and refused to relinquish them.  Even while eating.  I eventually manged to remove them so sneakily, so she didn't even notice they were missing!

I love how conniving she looks in this photo.  She's making plans for that Sharpie, I can just tell.
