More Teeth in our Future?

I think TerraDactyl might be gearing up for another bout of teething.  I was taking a look at what pictures I was going to use for the blog and in just about every photo, she had a toy in her mouth.

The travel toothpaste tube is a favorite toy

TerraDactyl has designated bathroom toys that she chose for herself (a travel toothpaste tube, a toothbrush still in its package, and often a TP roll, depending on when the roll was last changed).  She found them in one of the drawers and I let her keep them.  But we always leave them in the bathroom when we're done.  Why?  By restricting access to these special toys means TerraDactyl is more excited when she gets to play with them.  That means I'm just about guaranteed 20 seconds where she's totally occupied and I can pee and get the toilet lid closed before she starts trying to stick her hand/face into the toilet.  Then it's just a race between me washing my hands and using a leg to try and block her as she tries to crawl around me and get to the toilet.  Because really, it's the toilet that she loves.  And the toilet brush.  And the trash can. 

Duck number 9

Part of TerraDactyl's night time ritual is choosing which of her ducks (numbered 0 through 9) she wants to hold while DH reads her bed time stories.  TerraDactyl seems to favor ducks from the right side of the bottom row (so, ducks 7, 8, and 9).  She often chooses two.  And occasionally, she sweeps them all off the shelf onto the floor.  It's kind of funny.  But I do try and keep the floor cleared at night because I walk in there in the dark and it's no fun stepping on random stuff barefoot. 

She really likes the string at the end of this toy.  It's just a tiny nub, but she chewed on it for 5 minutes.

TerraDactyl is still emptying out her toy basket, but I think she might be searching for particular toys sometimes.  She used to completely empty the basket, but lately it's only "mostly" empty.

These last three pictures were all taken within a few minutes of each other.  I think she was going through her toys and experimenting which ones felt the best to chew on.

Summer Camp

  Tomorrow TerraDactyl will be starting her first day of summer camp.  It's twice a week for 3 hours each day.  The class is super small (5 kids) and they're all 3 or 4 years old.  It's only for the month of July.  Hopefully, she'll like it.  It's a nut-free building, so I was struggling to find filling snacks for TerraDactyl to bring with her.  I ended up finding these snack cups of olives and pouches of pickles.  I was so excited about my find.  And you know what DH had to say?  "Olives and pickles for snacks?  What are you trying to get TerraDactyl bullied?"  :P  (I'm still packing the olives for her). TerraDactyl really does like olives though.  She seems to kind of like the pickles, but the olives pretty much always get cleaned off her plate.  I'd also like to point out that neither DH nor I taught her to shove the olives onto her fingers.  She just started doing that one day.  Maybe it's innate.....

A Parade!

Check out all the candy TerraDactyl collected from the 4th of July Parade!  DH said she had a blast running out and picking up the candy.  For most of the parade they were spaced pretty far away from other kids so she actually had a chance to get the candy.  After a while though, another family with older kids camped out on their other side and they pretty much cleaned up the street before TerraDactyl could get to it.  She's not super aggressive with these things (yet - I'm sure she'll inherit a decent dose of competitiveness).  Also, check out her awesome snow boots that she insisted on wearing.  She's such a nut. Parade snacks!  DH and I weren't sure what kind of parking there would be, so they drove to a train stop and rode the train downtown.  TerraDactyl was super excited about the train ride.  DH wanted to walk back to the car after the parade, but TerraDactyl insisted on riding the train back.   A bit surprisingly, TerraDacty...

My Name is Still Mom

TerraDactyl had her first day of school.  It went super smoothly.  She had zero problems with us dropping her off with a bunch of strangers.  Once the teacher said she could play with the toys in the room, she had no more interest in her parents.  And DH and I suddenly had 3 child-free hours!   Here's one of the last photos of me pregnant.  Do you think these vertical lines are slimming?  I know I look huge.  There's a good reason for that... This little grumpy troll (aka SaraTops) was born on July 14 at 2:42pm, weighing 9 lbs, 10 oz!  She was a big one!  More than a pound heavier than TerraDactyl was, but an inch shorter (20.5" vs 21.5")!   SaraTops is actually much more attractive than that last picture indicates.  We refered to her as Norm throughout the pregnancy because Norm MacDonald is DH's favorite comedian and DH suggested we name her after him.  I did not agree to that plan, but I did allow Norm as a ni...
