Foot Saga Continues
A while ago I thought I had a bunion. I went to the doctor for confirmation and to see if there was anything I could do. The doctor had me take an X-ray and that seemed to indicate it was arthritis associated with gout. So then the doctor had me take a blood test for confirmation of gout, but all my numbers looked normal. So she referred me to a podiatrist.
Yesterday I had my podiatrist appointment. He was unconvinced about the Gout diagnosis because the pain seemed to be caused by overuse and gout usually shows up overnight. More X-rays and... turns out I have a broken bone! One of my sesamoid bones is broken. Doc said it looks like an old break. Funny thing is... I literally have NO IDEA when I may have broken it. Seems like I would have at least have had trouble walking when it first happened. My first official broken bone (non-stress fracture anyways) and I don't even remember it.
There were a couple other weirdish things about my foot: my 1st metatarsal is a bit too long so the alignment is a bit off - it pushes my big toe out away from the others and up a little higher. And my joints are a bit too loose, which may be from relaxin (with the pregnancy/nursing).
So. I'm supposed to rest and see if it will heal. And I'm supposed to wear shoes ALL THE TIME. :( Even in the house. How awful is that? I think I might rather just have the broken bone. Just kidding. Kind of. The good news is that the Doc didn't tell me I had to stop wearing my Chacos. I've got a follow up appointment next week to see how my foot's doing then.
TerraDactyl got to play with DH while I saw the podiatrist |

This is a pretty good idea of what my X-ray looks like |

Maybe if I roll back and forth I'll be able to get it |
