A Relaxing Weekend

We've been pretty busy lately.  Our weekends have been full of book club meetings, baby showers, hang outs...  But this past weekend was totally unscheduled.  It was great.  We promptly filled the weekend up with all sorts of chores that needed to be done.  :)

Like mother, like daughter

Yesterday, as DH was getting TerraDactyl ready for bead he noticed that her mouth was all sorts of red.  It's sometimes red when she's been drooling, but it was red on top of her mouth as well, and that is unusual.  It made us nervous because I'd given TerraDactyl the tiniest taste of my strawberry ice cream.  We were worried maybe she was allergic to strawberries.  So rather than putting her to bed, we kept her up for another hour or so just to make sure nothing happened.  The redness went away, so that was a relief.  But we're still not sure if it was eczema exacerbated by saliva or a strawberry issue. 

Don't take me away!!  I need to eat this!!

Both DH and Riley got hair cuts yesterday.  It was a beautiful sunny day, so it was perfect to stand out on the deck and trim DH's hair.  It is getting chilly though.  We were a bit rushed because TerraDactyl was not pleased about being left behind.  I was hoping that she'd be OK looking at us through the sliding doors, but she was not.  I guess next time we'll have to bundle her up and bring her outside with us.

Summer Camp

  Tomorrow TerraDactyl will be starting her first day of summer camp.  It's twice a week for 3 hours each day.  The class is super small (5 kids) and they're all 3 or 4 years old.  It's only for the month of July.  Hopefully, she'll like it.  It's a nut-free building, so I was struggling to find filling snacks for TerraDactyl to bring with her.  I ended up finding these snack cups of olives and pouches of pickles.  I was so excited about my find.  And you know what DH had to say?  "Olives and pickles for snacks?  What are you trying to get TerraDactyl bullied?"  :P  (I'm still packing the olives for her). TerraDactyl really does like olives though.  She seems to kind of like the pickles, but the olives pretty much always get cleaned off her plate.  I'd also like to point out that neither DH nor I taught her to shove the olives onto her fingers.  She just started doing that one day.  Maybe it's innate.....

A Parade!

Check out all the candy TerraDactyl collected from the 4th of July Parade!  DH said she had a blast running out and picking up the candy.  For most of the parade they were spaced pretty far away from other kids so she actually had a chance to get the candy.  After a while though, another family with older kids camped out on their other side and they pretty much cleaned up the street before TerraDactyl could get to it.  She's not super aggressive with these things (yet - I'm sure she'll inherit a decent dose of competitiveness).  Also, check out her awesome snow boots that she insisted on wearing.  She's such a nut. Parade snacks!  DH and I weren't sure what kind of parking there would be, so they drove to a train stop and rode the train downtown.  TerraDactyl was super excited about the train ride.  DH wanted to walk back to the car after the parade, but TerraDactyl insisted on riding the train back.   A bit surprisingly, TerraDacty...

My Name is Still Mom

TerraDactyl had her first day of school.  It went super smoothly.  She had zero problems with us dropping her off with a bunch of strangers.  Once the teacher said she could play with the toys in the room, she had no more interest in her parents.  And DH and I suddenly had 3 child-free hours!   Here's one of the last photos of me pregnant.  Do you think these vertical lines are slimming?  I know I look huge.  There's a good reason for that... This little grumpy troll (aka SaraTops) was born on July 14 at 2:42pm, weighing 9 lbs, 10 oz!  She was a big one!  More than a pound heavier than TerraDactyl was, but an inch shorter (20.5" vs 21.5")!   SaraTops is actually much more attractive than that last picture indicates.  We refered to her as Norm throughout the pregnancy because Norm MacDonald is DH's favorite comedian and DH suggested we name her after him.  I did not agree to that plan, but I did allow Norm as a ni...
