An Eventful Week

In the last post I mentioned TerraDactyl had a couple wood toys she can play with.  But her favorite toy is this giraffe blanket.  She spends a lot of time either cuddling it or sucking on it.

The giraffe is so easy to hold

Last week was a busy week.  It seemed like I was either prepping for a big event or trying to recover from one. We spent the first part of the week assembling a pergola for our deck.  Lowe's had a season end clearance sale and DH just happened to see the display model at the store.  DH ended up assembling it mostly by himself in the evenings after work.  I helped with a few steps that required two people, but TerraDactyl tends to be needier in the evenings, so she was in the sling wrap which definitely limited my helpfulness.  :)

Shade!

Thursday evening I finally got my Christmas present.  We went to a Walk Off the Earth concert.  WOTE is a Canadian band that made their big break in the Five People, One Guitar video.  They're super fun to watch because they play so many different weird instruments and do crazy things like tossing instruments across the stage when they switch to a new instrument.  We try to watch them when they come through town on tour.  Their YouTube videos are definitely worth watching too.

TerraDactyl getting her groove on

We figured TerraDactyl would not enjoy the concert (loud, crowded, past her bed time, etc), so we had the Ruvalwoods babysit for us.  TerraDactyl got to read books in Spanish and give them a hard time when it came time to bottle feed.  She was sleeping blissfully when we came by to pick her up.

The concert was fun, as always.  It was kind of a weird venue for a rock concert though.  It was held where we go to watch Broadway shows, so there's stadium seating and a balcony.  When the concert started, everyone stood up (because that's how you watch a rock concert).  The guy directly behind us asked DH and I to sit down so he could see.  It was so weird.  I was certain he was talking to someone else because everyone was standing, so getting one person to sit won't help your view.  DH was actually so shocked he was unable to reply, believe it or not.

Fun times with the Ruvalwoods!

Our other big event last week was hosting a Werewolf Legacy game.  We had 14 adults there.  Thankfully the weather was nice, so we got to use our big ol' lawn instead of cramming everyone into our little house.  Legacy games are played multiple times and the choices and outcomes in previous games will actually change and evolve the game in future sessions.  It's really interesting.

TerraDactyl is ready to play games!

Unfortunately, it's hard for me to play games since TerraDactyl came along.  I can do short stints, but our days of DH and I playing long involved games at night are on a hiatus for a while.  I did get to play Werewolf a bit though.  I just had to swap out while someone else looked after TerraDactyl for a little while.  TerraDactyl really enjoyed looking at all our guests.  She really likes having people's attention and seeing human faces, so she was actually really good during the party.  Originally, the plan was for a 2 hour party, but it ended up going for like 6 or 7 hours.

Diaper changes are starting to require more attention these days...

DH has been lifting weights in our garage since TerraDactyl was born.  He's getting to heavy enough weights that I've started coming out to spot him to make sure he's safe.  But it's kind of a zoo when I help out.  TerraDactyl has to come out with me, and Riley runs around being his normal helpful self.  Riley's favorite spot is laying down directly under the bench while DH is doing bench press.

One more rep, Dad.  You can do it!

TerraDactyl folding up her ear to block out a train whistle, or it was just coincidental...

  1. Es importante comenzarlos temprano ;) Soon TD will speak better Spanish than I do, just like everyone else in my family. Well, just like most people.
