A Relaxing Day

After our crazy busy week, TerraDactyl and I spent a relaxing Monday just getting back to our normal schedule.  We spent most of my productive time cleaning up the house from our Werewolf party.  And doing laundry, of course.  ;)

TerraDactyl loves Mondays!!

Good news!  The last few nights I've been waking up at 4am because my upper back has been hurting so bad.  I have to go out and stretch it out on my exercise ball for 30 minutes or so before I can fall back asleep.  Well, OK, that's obviously bad news.  The good news is that doesn't happen when I sleep on the other side of my bed!  For middle of the night feedings (or anything before 10am or so), I just sit up and lean against the headboard and feed TerraDactyl on my Boppy pillow.  She usually falls asleep while I'm holding her upright and it's super easy to just lay her back down in her bassinet.  But apparently, sitting in the same spot for so much time messed up the mattress so that it hurts my back if I sleep in the same spot.  Hopefully, some mattress flipping will allow the mattress to recover eventually, but for now, I've just moved my sleeping location over a bit.

Some more exciting news (even more so than mattress news, if you can believe it)...  One of my college roommates (from junior & senior year) is going to compete in the canicross World Championships!  What is canicross you ask?  It's a sport where a human and dog compete as a pair.  The dog's "leash" is tied to the humans waist and they run together.  The race takes place over two days with the sum of the two race times determining placing.  My roommate competes with one of her huskies, but you can use any breed of dog, although I think for health reasons, they suggest the dog weigh at least 35 pounds.  There's actually quite a few sports like this:  skijoring is cross country skiing with a dog, and bikejoring is mountain biking with a dog.  Anyways, the competition is in Nybro, Sweden in October.  I'm super excited for her.  She's an amazing athlete and one of only three women competing for the US.  She's also a mom to two little kids, so there's hope for getting back in shape post-pregnancy, right?  ;)  The only down side is that canicross is not exactly a money maker, so the competitors have to pay their own way, and traveling with a dog is not exactly cheap.

We can't wait to cheer for Brandi!
