We're still about a week behind, so I'm going to summarize a few days to try and catch back up to real time.

Bath time with DH and grandma! |
Since DH's family is big, MIL had a party for everyone to come out to and meet TerraDactyl. It's a good thing DH's parents have a big place, cause there was a ton of people! FIL grilled burgers and dogs and everyone brought sides to share. And then we played "pass the baby".
|
TerraDactyl was the life of the party |
TerraDactyl actually handled it really well. I was a little nervous, since TerraDactyl hadn't been in a situation like that, I wasn't sure how she'd handle all the people and noise, but she was a party girl. She was happy pretty much the whole time. And we haven't hit the age of separation anxiety, so she was totally cool being passed around.

This might be the highest she's ever been |
There was a little while when TerraDactyl wasn't too happy, but DH's cousin's kid wanted to try (and succeed at) calming TerraDactyl, so I didn't even have to be on comfort duty.

Ah, Millennials... |

First thing DH's Uncle says on arrival? "Where's the baby?" |
TerraDactyl was up partying until the end. It was at least 4 hours and she did great. She was pretty worn out though. She didn't nap hardly at all that day, so she ended up sleeping for SEVEN hours straight that night!! It was amazing. And part of me is tempted to try to duplicate it, but... That means I have to keep Marion entertained and awake all day long, which means that any productivity gains from the extra sleep would be wiped out by the increased baby wrangling. So, we'll continue napping for a while yet. But I'm pretty excited for uninterrupted sleep...

The Fourth of July at the in-laws is always pretty awesome. They live up on a hill, so you can see fireworks from 3 or 4 different cities, plus the extras from the neighbors. All from the back yard. It's a pretty awesome set up. However, I did not get to enjoy the fireworks this year. I had a baby monitor set up and everything, but every time I got to the backdoor to go outside, TerraDactyl would wake up and start crying. Ah well, there's always next year.

So peaceful and sleepy |
I'm even MORE pleased that Riley is not afraid of fireworks now that we've added a baby to the family now, though. Before it was just convenient that he wasn't freaking out about the noise and smell. But now, I can't imagine trying to deal with a dog freaking out and upsetting the baby...

Grandma's always happy to hold TerraDactyl |
