Chic-no-no

The other day I was trying to make TerraDactyl dinner and she kept saying "chic-no-no".  Neither DH nor I had any idea what she was talking about.  I ended up trying to play a variation of Hot/Cold with her, asking her what color it is, before finally asking if it was food.  She agreed it was food.  DH and I are standing there scratching our heads while TerraDactyl continues to insist on  "chic-no-no" and then FINALLY, it came to me.  Chicken nuggets!  Which really, isn't that far from chic-no-no.  It was kind of embarrassing how long it took us to get there.  So yeah, TerraDactyl really likes chicken nuggets now!  Except she prefers them microwaved over oven crispy because she's a weirdo.  The picture above is actually of TerraDactyl flying her own spoon around and making "shew" noises, sort of like adults do airplane noises for babies.  Except we never really did that because TerraDactyl never fell for it and ate the food.  So I'm not sure where she picked it up.

This is what happens when I try to take a shower.  TerraDactyl hung out right here the entire time I was in there.  She was also systematically shoving all those orange toys under the door into the bathroom.  So I no longer take showers.  Just kidding!  But DH has to put up with some seriously weird behavior from TerraDactyl when I do take showers.

For a few weeks we had 3 or 4 bees showing up in our living room every day.  They were always near the big picture window and sort of lethargic, if not actually dead.  Since they were honey bees we didn't want to kill them, so we'd catch them in a glass, cover it with a book and let them go out the front door.  TerraDactyl LOVED this ritual.  She became an expert at identifying bees.  She'd let me know as soon as she heard or saw any sign of a "bee bee bee bee!"  She was actually really good at it.  Then she'd "help" get me a book and escort me to the kitchen for a glass.  Sometimes she even helped me steer the glass over the bee.  Then once they were released, she'd celebrate their flying away with a "Fie!"  (L's are hard).  It's been a while since we've had any bee visitors and TerraDactyl misses them.  Sometimes she'll check the folds of the curtains and ask me for bees.

Hair accessories.  I've got snap clips and claw clips and ponytail holders for TerraDactyl's hair.  And, for a while, she let me use them on her hair.  But she's pretty much over them now.  Occasionally, she'll request I put her hair up, but usually she just objects when I ask if I can do her hair.  As someone who wears a ponytail every day of my life, I find it odd.  I'll catch her pushing her hair out of her face and ask if I can put it up and she's just like "no" and walks away.

Ugh.  I climbed into TerraDactyl's play structure ONE time (a month ago) and she STILL asks me to get in there with her.  I'm not even all the way inside -- my knees are hanging over the edge.  It's really hard to get into and out of that thing.  And super uncomfortable once you're in it.

My kid has high hopes of joining the fast food industry, circa 1957.  That's the secrecy envelope from my ballot.  TerraDactyl can turn anything into a hat.  Ever wonder what a dinosaur sounds like?  Here's an educational video TerraDactyl put together for you:
