Canned whole raspberries

We canned some whole, fresh raspberries.  One of the cans didn't seal though.  So I made a pearry pie.  This was a two-fer.  I got to get rid of some the pears that TerraDactyl has been refusing to eat and I got to add the raspberries that didn't seal.

We also made a small batch of raspberry jam.  I wanted to test the recipe before I committed to a huge batch of jam.  Plus, it's tough canning with a toddler.  I wanted some practice.

DH discovered that his Garmin watch will give him badges for certain things.  So last Saturday his goal was to get 30,000 steps.  So he went for a run first thing in the morning.  When he got back, TerraDactyl was awake, so he took her for a long walk so I could sleep in.  And then we all went for a hike!  It wasn't super long (about 4 miles) but I was pretty tired of packing TerraDactyl around.  One of these days, she'll be able to walk herself, instead of being carried - I can't wait!

Turns out, one laundry basket is no longer enough for TerraDactyl.  And she's pretty stubborn.  We're still working on her problem solving though...



One day, TerraDactyl spent half an hour moving DH's hiking boots all over the house.  She dragged them all the way into the kitchen and then back again.  I think it was probably a pretty good workout for her - those boots are heavy!

Honey, Where are my pants?

The other day, DH and I were getting ready to leave the house and DH asked me to run downstairs to grab his wallet.  Sure thing, no problem.  I spent 10 minutes looking for his wallet before giving up.  DH looked downstairs for his wallet while I looked upstairs and in the car.  DH looked upstairs and in the car.  We finally gave up and left.  I had to drive instead of DH.  We spent a whole day thinking DH's wallet was missing.  Since he hadn't left the house in a week, we figured he lost it the last time he did leave.  When we finally got back to the house DH found this gadget  that links to your phone.  When you lose your wallet, you phone pings the card and it makes a noise so you can find the wallet.  Apparently, DH isn't the only one to have this problem.  ;)  Oh, and we found his wallet.  Phew!  It was in the pocket of his pants in the laundry basket.  Which we BOTH checked, multiple times.  Turns out, sometimes having a plethora of pockets in a pair of pants is a bad

Furniture Galore!

Well, DH and I have finally passed the last milestone to official adulthood.  It's not having a baby - lots of people choose not to or can't have kids.  It's not buying a house - people in big cities often can't buy houses because big cities are insane (a completely unbiased fact).  And it has nothing to do with age.  Nope.  The last milestone to adult hood is:  buying non-IKEA furniture.  DH and I are big proponents of hand-me-downs.  And we've got by pretty well so far, thanks to our generous family and friends.  But we did need a new bed, and I fell in love with one, so we ended up paying retail for it.  It was on sale, at least.  And it's really cool. Summer Camp

  Tomorrow TerraDactyl will be starting her first day of summer camp.  It's twice a week for 3 hours each day.  The class is super small (5 kids) and they're all 3 or 4 years old.  It's only for the month of July.  Hopefully, she'll like it.  It's a nut-free building, so I was struggling to find filling snacks for TerraDactyl to bring with her.  I ended up finding these snack cups of olives and pouches of pickles.  I was so excited about my find.  And you know what DH had to say?  "Olives and pickles for snacks?  What are you trying to get TerraDactyl bullied?"  :P  (I'm still packing the olives for her). TerraDactyl really does like olives though.  She seems to kind of like the pickles, but the olives pretty much always get cleaned off her plate.  I'd also like to point out that neither DH nor I taught her to shove the olives onto her fingers.  She just started doing that one day.  Maybe it's innate...  I think TerraDactyl told her first ridd
