Happy Mother's Day

Just ONE smile?  Please?

I had a great Mother's Day.  I don't remember my first Mother's Day very well, since TerraDactyl was only a couple weeks old.  But this time around, I got to sleep in, I got a shower, and TerraDactyl took a long nap for me!  DH made dinner and we topped it off with a chocolate cheesecake.

Corned beef brisket, cabbage, and carrots

This weekend it was super hot.  We were in the high 80's with some humidity.  We have a window air conditioner unit, but we didn't install it since we knew we'd only have a day or two of heat before it dropped back down to the 60's.

So excited to see Da Da coming home!!  Check out her top teeth!

Luckily, DH had put the window screens back in all our windows (the previous owners took them out before selling the house).  So we could open the windows up at night to try and cool the house down a bit.  All the windows that open have a screen in them - except one.  It's the window in my room.  The heat definitely made it difficult to sleep.  We might have to look into installing ceiling fans eventually.

Hula hooping with Instant Pot!

The hot weather also impacted our walks.  If we went too long, Riley would just stop and lay down in any old patch of shade.  Even with the reduced walk length, when we'd get home, TerraDactyl and I would both end up with big ol' sweat patches on our bellies (where we were in contact).  Usually, I keep TerraDactyl upstairs (it's more baby-friendly), but we definitely spent some time in the basement cooling down (it's about 10 degrees cooler down there).
