This week DH, TerraDactyl, and I went out to dinner to celebrate the sale of our house. We went to a Japanese restaurant that only gives you chopsticks for utensils. Normally, this isn't an issue since both DH and I can use chopsticks just fine. But TerraDactyl was an unforeseen complication. She was happy as a clam in her high chair... until the food came.

Skeptical baby |
Once the food came, TerraDactyl only wanted to be held. And not just held, but held by me, and held while I was standing. She was squirmy enough that I didn't feel totally confident holding her in my left arm. So I was standing, holding TerraDactyl with my right arm, and trying to learn on the fly how to eat with chopsticks in my left hand. It was hard. BUT, I did manage to enough food to fill me up. And I only dropped my sesame chicken on TerraDactyl's head once. :D

She held her puppy through this entire meal |
Yesterday was a very exciting day. I'm pretty sure this was the first day that TerraDactyl noticed shadows. After she got tired of swinging, I was getting ready to pick her up when she saw the shadow of the chain on my shirt. TerraDactyl spent several minutes investigating the actual chain on the swing and comparing it to the look and feel of the shadow of the chain on me. She was so serious the whole time. It was really fun to watch her make the connections between the two.

SHADOWS! |
The weather has been so nice TerraDactyl, Riley, and I spend time outside on the blanket when it's sunny and warm enough. Riley always wants to sit on the blanket with us, but then TerraDactyl wants to spend the whole time using him to stand up. I honestly can't believe how much he's willing to put up with. I usually end up telling Riley to hide behind me so that TerraDactyl will leave him alone.

What a convenient hand hold. It's just the right height |
One of my favorite stuffed animals when I was a kid was a dog I named Spanky. What a weird name. Why Spanky? Because when you shake (or spank) him, he makes a funny chirping noise. Well, TerraDactyl has recently discovered Spanky in her laundry basket of stuffed animals, and she loves him, too!
Probably not the best toy to teach proper dog etiquette, but hopefully TerraDactyl's not taking it to heart.
