Spa Day!

Yesterday was another hot day.  However, I managed to remember to close the windows first thing in the morning which kept the temperature more regulated.  Since TerraDactyl's elbows were still red this morning I decided to forgo the moisturizer and see if it made a difference.  The doctors told us that babies should only be bathed twice a week, so I've decided Tuesdays and Fridays are bath days.

TerraDactyl likes baths!

Since it's been so hot lately, DH has been shirtless when snuggling TerraDactyl.  She likes to kneed her hands into DH's chest which gives us a pretty good barometer for when TerraDactyl needs her nails clipped.  I can't say it's every parents' least favorite part of parenting, but it just might be mine.  It's scary!  I tried the baby nail clippers first, but I didn't even get one snip in.  I was too scared.  My MIL suggested using nail scissors which I was skeptical of at first.  I kept envisioning adult nail scissors and they seemed just as scary.  But the baby nail scissors are SO much better.

Scissors for the win!

I try and keep her nails filed short to avoid clipping.  I've been using a glass nail file that's got super fine grit so it doesn't hurt TerraDactyl's skin.  But, apparently I haven't been filing frequently enough since I had to clip her nails again...  She just keeps her little hands balled up into fists, it can be difficult to get to her nails.

She doesn't hate it...

I even got TerraDactyl to nap after all the excitement.  Naps are hard to come by in this heat.  Oddly enough she STILL prefers to nap in my arms over her bassinet.  Even in this heat!  It's nuts.

So darn sweet

I've heard that babies evolved to be cute to ensure that parents would care for them.  But I would even take it a step farther.  I think TerraDactyl has an adorable cry face so that I'll love her even when she's cranky all day from the heat.  She's just so darn dramatic!  And it's kind of unbelievable how far out she can stick that lower lip.  It cracks me up.

Why yes, I did stop to take a picture of my daughter crying before I helped her out...

  1. Her cry-face looks like DH's concentrated board game face.

    1. Like I've ever had to concentrate when playing against you.

    2. Ha, you have to concentrate when you play Go Fish! (And one of these days I'll learn how to play it, too.)

  2. We did bath night every night, but only used soap once or twice a week. It's fun to play in the water! And when it's hot it's a nice cool down.
She is super adorable, even when upset!
