Last night was quite exciting. And it wasn't even TerraDactyl's fault. In fact, she managed to sleep through the whole thing. At 2am we got up for her first feeding and I put her back to sleep. As
I was trying to go back to sleep I hear Riley sprint out of the room and then some shrieking. Definitely animal shrieking. And there was some scuffling. It freaked me the heck out. I was getting out of bed to go see what was going on, but by the time I made it to the doorway, Riley had herded the whatever-it-was out the dog door. Riley patrolled out in the yard for a little bit before coming back inside where I was waiting with a treat for him. I'm thinking it was a raccoon.
When I went back to bed, Riley did some rounds of the house and then snuggled up nice and close to me. Usually he sleeps behind my knees, but this time her curled up to my belly. Riley was pretty grumpy the rest of the night. Huffing and bristling at nothing. But I didn't even reprimand him because I was so pleased that he chased the intruder out of our house. However, I
DID close the dog door. I guess Riley will be restricted to indoors at night time from now on.
Yesterday was also DH's first day back at work. To celebrate, TerraDactyl dressed up.

Dress for success |
TerraDactyl was pretty good for me. She sat in her little Baby Bjorn bouncer while I did laundry and was totally cool with that. She sat in her bouncer in the bathroom while I showered and was cool with that too. We hung out in the nursery while I folded clothes and she was happy there, too! It was kind of an amazing day.

The Baby Bjorn bouncer got a workout today! |
TerraDactyl even let me eat both breakfast AND lunch undisturbed. I think the key to our success was managing to hit all her naps just right. When she misses naps it's harder to get her to sleep and she's less willing to be put in a seat like the bouncer. Plus, I end up in a better mood because she's so adorable when she's napping!

The Thinker |
She's so adorable, I love her little smiling face! The intruder must have been so frightening. I'm glad Riley took care of it, even though it sounds like the way it got in was through his doggie door. Still, he's pretty amazing 💕🐕 So glad your first day on your own went well.

DeleteUs parents live and die by nap schedules. Now that we have Isla on a consistent schedule with napping and sleeping I am always hesitant to do anything that will disturb the schedule :).
