What is this?!?! |
It doesn't exactly lead to Narnia, but TerraDactyl has discovered the secret door in her bookcase - and she loves it! She spent a lot of time playing with the door, putting things in the empty cube, and just generally experimenting with it. Oh, and ripping off the "Infant CPR/choking Instructions" that I'd taped to the inside of the door.

The coolest secret ever |
Now I want to hide random surprises in there for her to discover when she decides to open the door again. Last weekend, DH and I tried to get some chores done. Enough to feel like we're making progress on the house, but not so much that DH feels burnt out and like he's working 7 days a week.

TerraDactyl helping to replace the light bulbs in the kitchen |
I think that TerraDactyl has been paying attention to me when I put on chap-stick. She carried around a tiny tube of sunblock and kept shoving it into DH's face. I didn't really make the connection to chap-stick until I saw her do the same to the cow pillow. She's definitely putting the round cap on the lips of the cow.

Needs moisturizing! |
TerraDactyl likes playing with her wood blocks, but she's definitely in a knocking things down stage. Sometimes it seems like maybe she's trying to carefully remove one block at a time from a tower. Other times, she's definitely just knocking it down. DH built a great big tower, using all of the blocks, hoping to entice TerraDactyl to come destroy it, but then she just ignored it. So instead, Riley came over and decided to test the structural integrity of DH's building skills.

Seems like the perfect place to lean my head... |
We continue to see new birds in our backyard. DH's really good at figuring out what they are. Because let's face it, the only birds I can identify without help are robins, quail, and bald eagles. And of those three, so far we've only seen robins in our back yard. A lot of robins - they love our worms. Here's an OK picture of a Black-headed Grosbeak. It's hard to get good pictures. The birds are pretty flightly, so I'm taking pictures from inside the house and even with my new phone, bird pictures are a whole new level of difficulty.

Has she pinched her finger in the door yet?
ReplyDeleteShe hasn't pinched her fingers in the secret door yet. But she has slammed her fingers in her dresser drawers. And she had a scare with the hinge side of one of the bathroom cabinets. Didn't actually hurt her, she just got nervous when her hand got trapped.
